Harper inks deal with part-time officers

Harper College has inked a new four-year agreement with its part-time community service officers that provides salary increases primarily tied to the Consumer Price Index.

The five non-sworn personnel covered under the agreement are due to get raises of 2.1 percent in the upcoming 2018-19 school year. In the three following years, they are due to receive increases based on the Consumer Price Index, with a floor of 1.5 percent and ceiling of 2.5 percent.

Bargaining teams for the administration and Illinois Council of Police met the last two months before reaching an agreement April 11. The membership ratified it April 30, and the college's board approved it May 16.
