North Aurora officer pulls unconscious man from Fox River

First responders pulled a man who was unconscious and unresponsive from the Fox River in North Aurora early Sunday evening, officials said. It was unclear Sunday night whether he survived.

A police officer dragged the man from the east side of the river about a quarter-mile north of the North Aurora dam at 5:10 p.m., North Aurora Fire Protection District Capt. Michael Klemencic said. The man was about 20 feet away from the shoreline, he said.

Firefighters performed CPR on the man while taking him to Mercy Hospital in Aurora, but it's unclear whether he lived, Klemencic said.

The fire protection district had not determined how the man came to be unconscious in the river, Klemencic said.

North Aurora police were not available for comment Sunday.
