Des Plaines District 62 appoints North Elementary assistant principal

Alyssa Shlensky has been named the assistant principal at North Elementary School in Des Plaines, Des Plaines Elementary District 62 officials announced.

Shlensky has spent the last few years in Kildeer-Countryside Elementary District 96, currently as a biliteracy specialist and prior to that as a second grade biliteracy teacher. The assistant principal position will be a new addition at North Elementary.

"I'm thrilled to start building relationships with the students, staff, and families at North Elementary and to work together with this amazing community to provide a positive learning experience for all," Shlensky said in a news release.

Shlensky earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education with a minor in Spanish in 2010. She went on to earn her master's degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University in 2011, before completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2016.
