Hawthorn Woods man charged with having more than 2,800 tablets of Tramadol

A Hawthorn Woods man has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance for having more than 2,800 tablets of Tramadol, authorities said in a news release.

The Lake County Sheriff's Gang Task Force and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security determined Randall T. Swansen, 41, of the 0-100 block of Foxtail Road, illegally acquired the drug online, officials said.

Authorities said companies overseas were mailing Swansen packages of the prescription medication. Authorities said they seized more than 700 tablets during a search warrant at Swansen's house May 9, and 2,100 more tablets have been confiscated since his arrest.

Swansen is free from Lake County jail since posting 10 percent of his $20,000 bail.
