Driver flees after truck plows into Arlington Heights home

Arlington Heights police continue to search for the driver who crashed a pickup truck into a home early Saturday morning then fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind in the home's front doorway.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred shortly after midnight Saturday on the 1500 block of North Dryden Avenue, on the northeast side of the village.

Authorities say a 2005 Dodge Ram veered off the roadway, drove across the home's lawn and struck the front door, stopping with a portion of the truck's front end piercing the entryway.

Sgt. Alan Baumgartner said as part of the investigation police are determining the vehicle's owner. There is no indication that the pickup had been stolen prior to the crash, he said.

Anyone with information about the crash or the driver is asked to call Arlington Heights police at (847) 368-5300. An anonymous tip can be submitted by text or telephone by texting the keyword 847AHPD and the message to 847411.
