Naperville woman injured in I-55 chain-reaction crash

A 56-year-old Naperville woman was among seven people injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday on I-55 in Grundy County.

Illinois State Police also reported 61-year-old Stephen Fulse, of Broadview, died in the crash that occurred just after 4 p.m. in the northbound lanes.

Investigators said Fulse crashed his 2014 Chevrolet Express into the back of a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Danielle Lucas, 44, of Downers Grove. That collision knocked Lucas' vehicle into a 2006 Honda CRV driven by Linda Miller, of Naperville. Lucas and Miller had slowed their vehicles due to another crash that had just occurred ahead of them, authorities said.

Fulse was pronounced dead at the scene. Miller and a passenger in her vehicle, as well as Lucas and four passengers in her minivan, were transported to area hospitals with nonlife threatening injuries. Their conditions are unknown.

No citations were issued, state police officials said.
