Arlington Heights man charged in deadly crash on I-290

An Arlington Heights man who crashed an RV into a parked car Sunday along Interstate 290 is suspected of driving under the influence, Illinois State Police say.

Matthew D. Graff, 34, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence causing death and aggravated driving under the influence causing great bodily harm, police said.

Graff was driving a 1993 Chevrolet motor home on I-290 at Mannheim Road near West suburban Hillside Sunday afternoon when it struck a green 2005 Nissan sedan stopped on the right shoulder of the road, police said.

Eduardo Moreno, 34, of Berwyn, who was in the driver's seat of the Nissan, died at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. A 42-year-old woman sitting in the passenger's seat also was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are serious but not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

Investigators said Tuesday drugs were considered a contributing factor in the crash. A spokesman Wednesday declined to say whether Graff is suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
