Former Aurora man gets life sentence for sexually assaulting two children

A former Aurora man was sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting two children he knew over the course of six years, officials said.

33-year-old Timothy M. Arnold, who moved to Tennessee after living in Aurora, received on Friday a mandatory sentence of life in prison. On Jan. 31, he was convicted of eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Officials said Arnold repeatedly sexually assaulted two children younger than 13 years old between October 2011 and October 2017 in Aurora.

Under Illinois law, the sentence of life in prison is mandatory because Arnold was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple children younger than 13 while he was an adult, the release said. In addition to the life sentence, Arnold must register as a sex offender under the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
