Chicago Dogs unveil uniforms for inaugural season in Rosemont

The Rosemont-based Chicago Dogs independent league baseball team unveiled its uniforms Tuesday ahead of the start of its inaugural season and home opener May 25.

The uniforms feature the colors and stars of the iconic Chicago flag, with jersey numbers shaped like hot dogs, the food item that inspired the team's name.

The Dogs' debut season in the independent American Association opens on the road May 18 against the Sioux Falls Canaries, before coming home a week later for the home opener at the new Impact Field versus the Kansas City T-Bones.

In all, the team will play 50 home games between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Fans can get a first look at Impact Field during a public open house from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the park, 9850 Balmoral Ave. in Rosemont.

Ballpark tours will be available every half-hour, and fans can meet manager Butch Hobson and play catch on the field from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
