Wheeling siblings stabbed while hosting party; one remains in critical condition

A 24-year-old man remained in critical condition Monday while his 26-year-old brother was released from the hospital after the pair were stabbed over the weekend while hosting a party at their Wheeling home, police said.

Police responded to the stabbing about 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Merle Lane, Deputy Chief Todd Wolff said. A preliminary investigation indicates the brothers were stabbed when a fight broke out at their gathering, Wolff said.

Both men were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment.

No one has been charged, Wolff said. The multijurisdictional Major Case Assistance Team is working with Wheeling police on the ongoing investigation. Police called the stabbings an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the community.
