Run raises money for Arlington Heights elementary schools

Ellen Burkhardt of Arlington Heights was at the finish line of the Just Move It! Challenge Saturday morning to cheer for her daughter, Natalie, 10, who is a fifth grader at Westgate School in Arlington Heights.

"She loves to run, this is a passion for her that we didn't even know about," Ellen Burkhardt said. "Her coach at school told us she is a natural."

Saturday's 5K race was the third that Natalie has participated in, her mom said.

That race and a 1 mile run/walk Saturday at South Middle School, 400 S. Highland Ave, Arlington Heights, raise money for the ABC/25 Foundation, which supports programs in Arlington Heights Elementary District 25.

Tyler Wengronowitz, a seventh grader at South Middle School, was the first student to cross the finish line in the 5K race, approximately 20 seconds behind the adult leaders.

"I think it was a good run," said Wengronowitz, who runs cross-country and track on the South team.
