Japanese school renews lease for Arlington Heights District 25 building

Chicago Futabakai Japanese School has renewed a 10-year lease for the former Rand Junior High School in Arlington Heights.

Futabakai will pay Arlington Heights Elementary District 25 $418,726 in annual rent - about a $7,000 increase - along with a $50,000 annual maintenance reserve contribution, under terms of the lease agreement approved Thursday by the District 25 school board.

Officials at the Japanese elementary and junior high day school are also interested in leasing more space at the school at 2550 N. Arlington Heights Road that is currently used for District 25 storage. Both sides are still discussing those options, and any future agreement would be brought to the District 25 board as an addendum to the lease.
