Three face burglary charges in Antioch

Three people, including two juvenile teens, were arrested and charged in Antioch for stealing property from unlocked cars, authorities said Tuesday.

Anthony Viso, 20, is charged with three counts of felony burglary, one count of misdemeanor theft and one count of misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, Antioch police said in a news release.

Viso's bond was set at $20,000 on Tuesday, according to Lake County sheriff's office spokeswoman Sara Balmes.

The two teens have been referred to the juvenile justice division of the Lake County state's attorney's office for charges.

Police on routine patrol at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday saw Viso entering a vehicle in a residential driveway on the 400 block of Edgewood Drive, authorities said.

As the officer approached, Viso began walking away, and was stopped along with the teens.

An investigation revealed Viso and the teens had entered several vehicles in the area and stole contents.

Viso faces up to five years in prison if found guilty of the charges.

Police are asking any resident who may be a victim of the early morning vehicle burglaries to call the police department at (847) 395-8585. Police also have several pieces of property in evidence that were found during the investigation but have not been returned to the rightful owners.

Police also remind residents to remove valuables from their cars and to always lock their house and vehicle doors. Most victims of crimes such as this report having left their doors unlocked, which gives criminals easy access to their vehicles and often times their houses through a remote garage door opener, authorities said.

Viso is due back in court on April 16.
