Arlington Heights police issue dozens of citations St. Patrick's Day weekend

Arlington Heights police issued dozens of traffic citations within a roadside safety checkpoint and special enforcement zones put in place during St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Police arrested two people on warrants, and issued 32 seat belt violations, three cellphone citations, two driving while license suspended/revoked offenses, one child safety restraint violation and 52 miscellaneous traffic offenses.

The stepped-up enforcement activities March 16-19 were part of an Illinois Department of Transportation grant program aimed at identifying motorists who drive under the influence and don't wear seat belts, among other traffic violations.
