Tri-State Tollway closures to start Friday afternoon

Lane closures on the North Tri-State Tollway (I-94) will begin Friday afternoon.

According to the Illinois Tollway, road repairs are scheduled to begin on Friday for the section of I-94 between Russell Road and Grand Avenue.

The weekend lane closure schedule will be in place this weekend and the weekend of March 16. Starting at 3 p.m. on both Fridays, two eastbound lanes, including two lanes through the Waukegan toll plaza, will be closed to traffic. At 7 p.m., two westbound lanes, including one lane through the toll plaza, will be closed.

The weekday lane closure schedule will start Monday and will be in place for weekday traffic for the next two weeks. By 5 a.m. on Monday, one lane in each direction will reopen so that only one eastbound and one westbound lane will be closed to traffic.

After these repairs are complete, roadwork between Grand Avenue and Half Day will begin with lane closures through Memorial Day.
