Longtime Elk Grove Township trustee resigns

Elk Grove Township Trustee Andrea Koshaba has resigned after serving four terms on the township board.

In a Feb. 22 letter to the township, Koshaba cited health issues, family needs and work requirements as reasons for resigning. The township board accepted her resignation this week.

"I have fully enjoyed my four terms as trustee, but with burgeoning issues facing the township, I no longer have the time or energy to serve effectively," Koshaba wrote.

The township board will likely seek resumes and letters of interest from residents before undergoing an interview process to fill the vacant position, Supervisor Mike Sweeney said.

State law requires replacement of the trustee within 60 days. The replacement must be of the same party as the resigning member. Koshaba was a Republican.
