Nineteenth Judicial Circuit judges announce finalists for vacancy

The Circuit Judges of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit met and named the finalists for the Associate Judge vacancy on the court, the court announced Tuesday.

Ari P. Fisz of Deerfield and Reginald C. Mathews of Lindenhurst are the two finalists.

Fisz is the chief of the criminal division with the Lake County State's Attorney Office. Mathews is the chief of the gang and narcotics division with the Lake County State's Attorney Office.

In a recent poll of the entire Lake County Bar Association, both candidates were recommended for the position.

Now each circuit judge will vote on who they prefer.

The vacancy was created by the appointment of Judge Joseph V. Salvi to Circuit Judge.
