Palatine library patrons help Little City

Palatine Public Library District officials announced that participants went well beyond a 5,000-book goal for the winter reading challenge, meaning Palatine Bank and Trust and Warehouse Direct each donated $1,000 to Little City in Palatine.

The library's winter reading program ran from Dec. 15 through Jan. 31, with the goal being met Jan. 20. The final count was 7,729 books read, which topped the 2016-17 effort.

The library district serves about 90,000 residents mostly within Palatine and Hoffman Estates.

Little City is a nonprofit based in Palatine that serves children and adults with disabilities throughout the Chicago area.
