Aurora man sought on child porn, sex assault charges in custody

An Aurora man, sought to face charges of criminal sexual assault and solicitation of child pornography, has been returned to Illinois and appeared in Kane County court Saturday.

Ellis T. Burns, 21, of the 1900 block of Lilac Lane, was arrested by U.S. marshals in Mississippi Jan. 5, according to Aurora police.

His bail remains at $5 million.

The arrest warrant was issued Dec. 4.

Ellis faces seven counts of solicitation of child pornography; one count of criminal sexual assault; 13 counts of possession of child pornography; one count of intimidation; one count of failure to register as a sex offender; one of failure to inform authorities he had changed his social media information, which was a condition of parole; four counts of criminal sexual abuse; two counts of domestic battery; and two counts of distributing explicit materials, according to Kane County court records.

The solicitation charges are the most serious; if convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison on each count, to be served consecutively.

Burns' charges involve two 15-year-old girls.

Police previously said an acquaintance of Burns, Dametrius D. Thronton, 23, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation, intimidation, electronic harassment and distributing explicit material to a minor, in a case that also involved those girls and a third 15-year-old.

Thornton is being held at the Kane County jail on $750,000 bail. His next court date is Jan. 31.

Police also said they believe more girls are victims, and ask them to contact police at (630) 256-5500.
