Thomas More Society applauds ruling in District 211 transgender suit

Thomas More Society, a religious freedom organization representing the residents group D211 Students and Parents for Privacy, has applauded a Cook County judge's ruling Thursday to deny a Palatine High School transgender student's request for an injunction that would have at least temporarily allowed her unrestricted access to a girls locker room.

"The entire concept is an unprecedented and unjustified invasion of the personal and bodily privacy of school students," said Thomas Olp, senior counsel for the Thomas More Society. "We are pleased with this latest development."

Nova Maday, 18, is a transgender senior suing District 211 for its restriction that she can access the girls locker room only if she always use a private changing stall within. Thomas More Society was allowed to intervene in the case on the side of the school district.

Maday and her representatives expressed disappointment with Judge Thomas Allen's ruling.
