'Polar Opposites' at Palatine library:

Palatine Public Library District plans a special children's program next week as part of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics education. The free event, called "Polar Opposites," will run from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3. Geared for children 3 to 7 years old, the program will focus on where polar bears and penguins live. There also will be a storytime, science experiment and a simple craft for the kids to make. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
