Plane misses landing strip, ends up in Plato Twp. pasture

A St. Charles pilot walked away OK after misjudging his approach to a landing in Plato Township Saturday afternoon and flew through a fence.

According to a report from the Kane County sheriff's department, 74-year-old David Weaver was trying to land a Pulsar 912XP experimental homebuilt airplane at the Olson Airport.

He told authorities there was an issue with lighting. The plane crashed through a wooden fence and came to rest on its belly in a pasture southeast of the landing strip, at 9N670 Kendall Road.

Weaver, the sole occupant, was not injured.
