Victim identified in Hainesville shooting

The Lake County coroner on Monday identified the victim of a Hainesville shooting Friday night as an Evanston man.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning, and preliminary results confirm Raphel Speed, 38, died from a gunshot, according to the coroner's office.

Grayslake police were sent to the 100 block of West Big Horn Drive in Hainesville about 11:30 p.m. Friday after a complaint of domestic violence, according to a news release.

Police found Speed facedown and wounded in the driveway. Three other occupants of the home were outside, along with the gun used to shoot the victim, police said.

Speed was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. Saturday.

No charges have been filed.
