Police: Fake money that looks like movie props being used in Aurora

Police are warning the public that counterfeit bills resembling movie props have been passed during business transactions in Aurora.

The bills have the words "for video and motion picture use only" several times on the $50 and $100 bill, authorities said.

The bills also share the same serial numbers, Aurora Police posted on their Facebook page.

Recently, a 14-year-old from Naperville lost about $1,200 on shoes he agreed to sell to someone over the Offer Up app after the buyer paid for the merchandise with the fake bills.

In another incident, a downtown restaurant owner was scammed out of almost $200 by a man who paid for food with the fake bills, authorities said. Anyone with information on who may be producing the bills should call police at (630) 256-5500 or the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
