Lake Zurich police officer injured in crash during traffic stop

A Lake Zurich police officer suffered nonlife-threatening injuries yesterday when two squad cars were rear-ended during a traffic stop, authorities said. The officer and a backup officer were stopped behind a driver who was pulled over about 12:34 a.m. when another vehicle struck the rear of the backup officer's patrol car, pushing it into the other squad car, Sgt. Family: Barrington electrician fatally struck by vehicle while working

A 29-year-old electrician from Barrington was fatally struck by a vehicle last week while working on a roadside project in Park City, his family says. Matthew Paulson, a lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday of multiple traumatic injuries related to a vehicle crash, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said yesterday. Full story.

Warren Township High School officials investigating racist graffiti

Warren Township High School administrators say they are investigating an instance of "inappropriate, racially insensitive" graffiti discovered on a bathroom stall at the Almond campus last week. The graffiti has been removed, and school officials have been working to identify the individuals responsible, said John Ahlgrim, superintendent of Gurnee-based Warren District 121. Full story.

Chicago Blackhawks get shut out by Montreal

The Chicago Bulls are about to take the next step in the awkward aftermath of their Oct. 17 practice altercation.
