Suspect in custody in fatal shooting near Grayslake
One suspect is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old Zion man near Grayslake, authorities said Sunday.
Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Covelli said deputies are still seeking the public's assistance in their investigation of the early Saturday shooting, which is not believed to be random.
Authorities responded about 1:36 a.m. to a report of shots fired in the 33300 block of Lone Rock Road in an unincorporated area near Grayslake, Covelli said. The Zion man, whose identity has not been released, had been shot and critically injured, he said.
The man was taken to a hospital, where later he was pronounced dead, Covelli said. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Covelli said there was a gathering at the single-family home about the time of the shooting, but did not provide any additional details. Nobody else was injured.
