Dispose of unwanted medications Oct. 28 in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police will collect unwanted, expired and unused pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medications for proper disposal Saturday, Oct. 28.

The police department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration's Prescription Take-Back Initiative, which has collected more than 8 million pounds of pills in 13 years. Medications can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Arlington Heights village hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road.

Tablets, capsules and all other solid dosage forms will be accepted, but intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not.
