Carpentersville man gets 4 years for stabbing girlfriend

A Carpentersville man has been sentenced to four years in prison after recently pleading guilty to stabbing his girlfriend seven times over the summer.

Peter J. Biancalana, 25, of the 100 block of Pecos Circle, had been held at the Kane County jail since his July 1 arrest on charges of aggravated domestic battery.

Biancalana faced a prison term of up to seven years. Judge D.J. Tegeler accepted the plea agreement, which also requires him to pay $1,065 in fines and court fees, including $100 restitution to the Elgin Community Crisis Center, which shelters battered women and children, records show.

Prosecutors said Biancalana stabbed his girlfriend June 30, 2017, requiring her to be hospitalized, according to Kane County court records.

Biancalana must serve 85 percent of his sentence because his offense caused great bodily harm.

Biancalana was arrested in 2000 on felony theft charges that he stole $1,600 in silver coins from his mother. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor, records show.

In February 2012 Carpentersville police picked up Biancalana on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He pleaded guilty and got 24 months of probation and 30 days in jail, court record show.

He was sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to felony marijuana possession in February 2016, records show.
