Fun for all on tap for Barrington High School homecoming weekend

High school spirit will be full tilt Friday and Saturday in Barrington.

It's Barrington High School's homecoming, which has activities for students and adults.

Friday's featured event will be a Filly flag football game at Barrington Community Stadium at 7 p.m. The popular girls game, which costs $5 to watch, features Barrington High's juniors against the seniors.

Saturday kicks off with a tradition started by a Barrington High School Quarterback Club founding member. The 46th annual Andy Anderson Pancake Breakfast starts at 7 a.m. and runs to about noon in the high school cafeteria.

Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee will be featured for the fundraiser for the 67-year-old private, nonprofit organization that supports the football team. The breakfast is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

A parade with a theme of "Hawaiian Homecoming: Ride the Tide" will start at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Barrington Metra station and roll west down Main Street before ending at the high school. It's followed by high school tours and a Barrington High School Alumni Association tailgate at Chessie's, 200 Applebee St., both starting at 11 a.m.

Led by dynamic quarterback Ray Niro, the undefeated Broncos will face unbeaten Hoffman Estates High School in the homecoming game at 1 p.m. The homecoming dance is at 8 p.m.

Homecoming festivities began Thursday at the high school's black box theater and Barrington White House.
