Libertyville reaches deal with public works union

Libertyville has reached a five-year pact with public works employees that merges three agreements with the Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 into one.

The union represents 25 employees that had been covered by separate agreements. The new agreement is from May 1, 2016 to April 30, 2021 and supersedes an existing agreement with parks employees.

The new contract provides for cross-training for employees that work on streets, utilities, parks and fleet management.

Wages increase by 1.5 percent annually. The village will contribute $1,921 per month for family insurance coverage; $1,260 per month for single plus one and $630 per month for single coverage.

In the final year of the contract, pay for non-supervisors with one year of experience will range from $44,276 to $52,630, depending on the position.
