Naperville home invasion suspect charged with 6 offenses

A Chicago man is accused of forcing entry into a Naperville house and fleeing when police arrived, injuring an officer in the process, authorities said Tuesday.

Quincy Devon Watson, 36, of the 2000 block of West 68th Street, has been charged with home invasion, aggravated battery to a police officer and four other offenses stemming from what Naperville police described in a news release as a "domestic-related dispute."

Police said Watson was arrested Monday afternoon in Villa Park, while the officer who was injured during the response remains at Edward Hospital in Naperville for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening.

The disturbance began before 11:30 a.m. Monday, when police were called to a home invasion at a townhouse on White Thorn Circle near the southeast corner of 87th Street and Route 59.

Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said in a news release Watson is accused of forcing entry into the house during a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, Cammiso said, Watson fled in a burgundy Nissan Murano, "dragging an officer in the process."

Three schools in Indian Prairie Unit District 204 - Neuqua Valley High School, Scullen Middle School and Welch Elementary School - restricted entry or exit for about an hour while police responded to the home invasion. Spokeswoman Janet Buglio said the buildings were not on lockdown, but they were "secured" as a precaution because of the large police presence nearby.

By 1:40 p.m. Monday, Naperville police sent a community alert saying the suspect in the home invasion had been taken into custody in Villa Park.

Police said Watson is charged with five felony offenses - home invasion, aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated obstructing a peace officer, criminal trespass to residence and aggravated driving while license revoked - and two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.
