Another Republican joins race for 10th District seat

Douglas R. Bennett of Deerfield on Monday announced his Republican candidacy for the 10th Congressional District in Illinois.

He is the third Republican so far to enter the race for the seat now held by Democrat Brad Schneider of Deerfield.

Last week, Libertyville physician and business owner Sapan Shah launched his bid. Jeremy Wynes of Highland Park announced his campaign in May.

Bennett graduated from Northwestern University in 1985 with a degree in applied mathematics. He is a computer consultant and vice chairman of the West Deerfield Township Republican Organization.

He stated he is "honored to have this opportunity to serve the people of the 10th district in a manner that will enact meaningful solutions to health care insurance, higher education, job creation and lower taxes."
