Arlington Heights police issue 77 seat belt citations

Arlington Heights police issued 77 citations for failure to wear a seat belt, and 15 for using cellphones or texting while driving, as part of a stepped-up enforcement campaign Aug. 21 through Sept. 5.

The department conducted seat belt enforcement zones, roving DUI saturation patrols and a roadside safety checkpoint, as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Labor Day Holiday Enforcement Campaign.

Police also issued 17 speeding citations, five child safety restraint violations, 15 registration-related violations, and one felony driving while license suspended/revoked arrest.
