Hanover Park car show benefits youth programs

The village of Hanover Park sponsored its annual car show in the Metra station parking lot Sunday afternoon in collaboration with the Hanover Park Community Resource Coalition.

"This is a great community event. People come out and enjoy it," said Gayle Peneschi, executive director of the coalition.

The event benefitted youth programming provided by the nonprofit HPCRC.

More than 200 cars and motorcycles were entered in the show, with classes that included antiques as well as stock and modified cars.

Participants showcased their cars while competing for the grand prize trophy in three categories: Best of Show, Best Engine and Best Paint. There also were cash prizes given for Best Mustang, Best Camaro and Best Mopar RT.
