Storm damage could reduce property assessments

Schaumburg Township residents who experienced severe property damage after the recent storms may be eligible for a property assessment reduction.

The township assessor's office will accept flood and catastrophic appeals for 30 days tentatively beginning Monday, Aug. 14.

"To qualify, property owners will need to provide documentation that represents physical or structural damage on the property," township Assessor John R. Lawson said.

All flood and catastrophic event appeals are reviewed by the Cook County assessor's office.

Any questions can be directed to the township assessor's office at (847) 884-0030 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
