Naperville police seek burglar after cash stolen from unlocked car

Naperville police are asking the public for help to find a man suspected of stealing $300 from an unlocked car.

The burglary took place about 3:35 a.m. Friday from a car parked in a driveway on the 1800 block of Auburn Avenue near Ranch View Elementary School on the city's east side, police said Tuesday.

A man captured in surveillance footage can be seen riding a bicycle into the driveway and entering the vehicle through an unlocked door. The suspect then took about $300 from the center console and rode away on the bike, heading east on Auburn.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the burglary or has information about the person responsible for it to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 230-6006. Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

The police department reminds residents to keep their car doors locked and keep valuables out of sight to help prevent burglaries.
