Elk Grove Township televising meetings for the first time

Elk Grove Township residents will now be able to watch video of the latest monthly meetings online.

For the first time this week, the township posted video of its monthly meeting on YouTube. Most townships in the Northwest suburbs don't televise meetings, and right now Elk Grove Township is in a six-month trial period.

"We're going to work hard to make sure folks are aware and assess where we're at after six months," Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney said.

The township has hired Arlington Heights-based Lorelle Communications Inc. to produce the videos at a monthly cost of $1,750. If the township gets enough interest in the videos, it may sign a cheaper, long-term agreement with the company, Sweeney said.
