'Hamilton' star set for golf fundraiser at Wynstone

Some star power is expected at the Citizens United for Research In Epilepsy fundraiser at North Barrington's Wynstone Golf Club next week.

Miguel Cervantes, who plays Alexander Hamilton in Chicago's version of the musical "Hamilton," is scheduled to attend the Drive for CURE golf outing starting at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10 at the private, Jack Nicklaus-designed course.

CURE spokesman Scott Kenemore said Cervantes will make the rounds golfing with those attending the fundraiser. Patrons also can enter a raffle to win a round of golf with Cervantes.

Cervantes has been raising donations for CURE on behalf of his 1-year-old daughter, Adelaide. She suffers from infantile spasms, a rare childhood epilepsy syndrome that can have profoundly negative long-term consequences.

Adelaide was 7 months old when she began having dozens of seizures per day. She now has severe developmental and cognitive delays, according to CURE.

On Monday, the fundraiser will begin with registration and practice range availability at 10 a.m. That'll be followed by a 10:30 a.m. lunch, a noon shotgun start and a reception, dinner, awards and live-auction program at 5:30 p.m.
