Arlington Heights toy shop moves down the block

Beat Street Toys & Gifts has relocated down the block from its previous downtown Arlington Heights location.

The classic toy shop reopened Tuesday in a larger location at 45 S. Evergreen Ave. within the Arlington Town Square shopping center. The store has been at 70 S. Evergreen Ave. for the past three years. Named "Best Old-Fashioned Toy Shop" by Chicago Magazine in 2016, Beat Street sells classic toys, crafts, games and stuffed animals.

"It's been a blast to watch kids riding their bikes to the shop, excited to see what new products we have, grandparents coming in for a special toy or parents coming in and out for holiday and birthday gifts," owner Jennifer Sanger said in a news release. "This new location has great energy and activity. We couldn't be more excited about the changes that are happening for our little toy shop."

A grand reopening event is scheduled for Saturday, July 8, with activities and chances to win toys and gifts throughout the day.
