Windsor students get to work at Arlington Heights businesses

Fifth-graders from Windsor Elementary School spent Wednesday morning learning what it's like to work in the real world by doing two-hour shifts at 32 downtown Arlington Heights businesses.

A total of 79 students participated in the 3rd Annual Windsor World of Work Day at local businesses, from restaurants and boutiques to salons and banks. The event was coordinated by the school's PTA. More than 30 volunteers supervised students at the various sites.

"The chance to 'work' allows our students to see the importance of commitment and responsibility," Principal Shelley Fabrizio said in a news release. "The businesses give the children an experience that they won't soon forget and additionally, of course, there is fun sprinkled in for their efforts."
