Three little horses went to Lines Elementary in Barrington

When it was Grace Kopecky's turn to bring something from her life to share with third grade classmates at Arnett C. Lines Elementary School in Barrington, she knew just what it would be: horses.

Specifically, the miniature horses from Equine Dreams, a nonprofit organization that provides horse-based therapy and a group Grace, 9, and her mother, Windy Kopecki, have volunteered at for years.

So, after some back-and-forth on the logistics, Grace got her wish. Wednesday morning, trailers containing Poko, Teddy and Levi rolled up to her school.

Grace's teacher, Sarah Giunchedi, said students usually make a poster board or bring in one of their trophies when it is their week to share with the class. Bringing in the miniature horses really was a fit for Grace.

"Grace is a real animal lover, I've seen that throughout the year," Giunchedi said.

The horses were hauled up to Barrington from their stables in Sandwich, a 60-mile drive. The class got to brush the horses, walk them around outside the school and pose for a picture with them.
