Maine West singers to perform with Barry Manilow

Barry Manilow, the 73-year-old pop crooner and decorated artist, will get some help from a few Maine West High School singers at a concert next week.

Manilow Productions called up the high school's choral director Jim Schiffer and asked whether students would join the singer for a concert Wednesday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont.

This week, Schiffer told the 20 members of the school's a cappella group "Choraliers" that they'll be joining Manilow for the concert's finale. The students will practice and rehearse about 10 hours in preparation for the concert.

Which song has the singer of hits like "Mandy," "Can't Smile Without You," and "Copacabana" picked for his finale? That's under wraps until show time.

Members of Maine West High School's "Choraliers" will perform Wednesday with Barry Manilow at Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
