  Record setting cold weather hit the suburbs Thursday. The official morning temperature at O'Hare Airport was 8 degrees below zero, breaking a record set in 1936. Temperatures in the suburbs reached as low as 11 degrees below zero.

  We may have bitter cold weather on the way, but at least we don't have more snow and dangerous ice. The South got hit hard, and seeing how ill-prepared they are for winter weather sure makes us appreciate how well Chicagoland handles it.
