Extension to host McHenry County Master Gardener Fall Expo

Are you looking to expand your gardening skills in 2019, or just looking to pick up gardening as a casual hobby?

The University of Illinois Extension office can help when it hosts the McHenry County Master Gardeners 2018 Fall Expo from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the McHenry Co. Farm Bureau building, 1102 McConnell Road in Woodstock.

This event is free and open to the public.

"The Fall Expo is a great way to learn about your local Extension Master Gardeners, several community gardens, and 2019's gardening projects," said Anne Miller, Extension Master Gardener volunteer and a gardener in Woodstock who is helping organize the event.

"Within about an hour, you could easily connect with dozens of people who are creating and tending several community gardens, and teaching gardening workshops and classes," she said.

The Fall Expo is open to McHenry County residents who would like to learn about becoming an Extension Master Gardener volunteer, or learn about becoming involved in a community, school or church garden, added Linda Popp, another Woodstock gardener and EMG volunteer helping to organize Expo.

"Attendees could also explore partnering with EMG volunteers for future garden-related speaking engagements for their club, library or organization," Popp said.

The mission of an Extension Master Gardener is to share unbiased, reliable, research-based information with home landscapers and gardeners, as well as to encourage people to enjoy gardening and vegetable growing.
