Honda brings back two popular motorbikes
Honda is bringing back a pair of mini motors in the form of two retro-inspired two-wheelers.
First up is the 2019 Monkey, a cute-as-can-be Honda Z series motorcycle the company first started selling in the early 1960s.
This new version features a 125-cubic-centimeter, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine and a four-speed transmission. Anti-lock brakes are available. It will come in two paint colors: Banana Yellow and Pearl Nebula Red.
A historic “Old Wing” design Honda logo is mounted on the 1.5-gallon fuel tank for a novel throwback touch.
Other nods to the pint-size rascal's past include chrome steel high-mount fenders, stamped exhaust shield, circular mirrors and high-rise handlebar, features that all pay homage to the original from decades ago.
Modern tech comes in the form of such things as front and rear LED lights and multifunction digital instruments. Another unique element of the machine is its super low seat (at just 30.6 inches), which makes it easy to flatfoot it in parking lots or at stop lights.
The Monkey's price will start at $3,999, with an ABS version costing $4,199. Both will be available in October.
<h3 class="leadin">Honda Super Cub
Joining the adorable little ape is the Super Cub, revamped for the modern age as the 2019 C125 ABS. This model first launched in 1958 and inspired a Beach Boys song, “Little Honda,” in 1964.
The Super Cub hit a production milestone in 2017, marking 100 million sold, making this bike the highest-selling motor vehicle in the word. Honda stopped importing them into the United States in 1974, However, in honor of its 60th anniversary, Honda decided to reboot the line.
These new versions still feature an scooter-like silhouette with step-through design, which incorporates frontal bodywork that helps shield riders from wind and road splash. It also makes it easy to get on or off the bike.
Super Cubs will only come in Pearl Niltava Blue paint, paired with white accents and a striking red seat. Power comes from a fuel-injected 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine. All will get anti-lock braking system, or ABS, standard.
Pricing will start at $3,599 with availability beginning in January.
