Patriots would sing it all

This is in response to Mark McCar­ter's May 27 Letter to the Editor. Mr. McCarter rails against the brevity of singing only the first verse of the national anthem, in effect doubting where this flag and nation can long endure if all stanzas had to be sung. Really? I don't think so.

You underestimate the passion and patriotism of us Americans. It's extremely ironic that the writer chose to express his outrage against the Star Spangled Banner with the briefest of criticism employing a mere paltry 37 words. It's like "the pot calling the kettle black" - totally hypocritical.
