Wrong for 6th District

The press has been calling 2018 the "Year of the Woman." As a woman who actively campaigned for a female candidate during the primary, I was surprised to see that Democrats in the Sixth District chose Sean Casten as their nominee. His female opponents were clearly qualified: many had previous campaign experience and had served in local government, neither of which Casten has.

Instead of supporting one of them, Casten viciously attacked their records. Right before the election, his father spent $150,000 to fund a series of negative mailers attacking the leading female opponent's credentials as "fake news" and helped secure Casten the victory. Casten claimed after his victory to have run a campaign focused solely on the issues, but thanks to reporting by NBC5, now we know better. Casten is wrong for the Sixth District.
