Town halls a victim of Democrats' violent fringe

For regular readers of "Your Views," you will have by now read the regular postings from readers complaining that their Republican congressman doesn't hold town hall meetings in person. It's so regular and formulaic that one might think it's orchestrated. For my liberal or moderate friends, allow me to offer help.

Search YouTube and you can easily find videos that angry mobs proudly post of Democrats shouting down Republican candidates at town hall meetings. Look for videos of these same people chasing Republicans through open parking lots while shouting questions and insults.

I experienced similar hostility and incivility while passing out candy bags for the kids before the Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Parade last year. The bags had the name of the local Republican congressman on them, but the aggressive response was disturbing.

You can also find undercover videos of Democrat operatives sending thugs to the Trump rally in Chicago to do violence in 2016. Finally you can Google Republican congressman Steve Scalise's recovery from gun shot wounds. He was gunned down on a baseball field by an individual that one time volunteered for Bernie Sanders. Our elected officials rightfully fear for their safety.

Until Democrats drive this violent fringe from their ranks, Republican Town Halls in public will be a thing of the past.
