Long view on promises
I read with great interest the letter from Steven Buechel of Gurnee extolling the Trump promises and how they are being accomplished. However, I don't see his views in the same light. Yes, the Obamacare mandate has been repealed; however, Donald Trump promised to repeal Obamacare completely and replace it with something that would be better and cheaper (not done). Also, the GOP tax reform (cut), which will give 84 percent of the benefit to the 1 percent and large corporations and is permanent, will end in 2025 for everyone except the wealthy. This means that regular Americans in 2026 will see an increase of at least 40 percent in their federal taxes and probably mean massive cuts to the social safety net.
