Guns and alcohol

In the year 2011, a total of 31,940 people died in the United States as a result of firearms. How? accidental discharge, 851; suicide, 19,766; homicide, 11,101; undetermined intent, 222. Seventy-five thousand deaths per year are directly attributed to the consumption of alcohol, one-third of them because people drove cars while drunk. Now that it has been established that drinking alcoholic beverages is more than twice as deadly than the possession of firearms, perhaps the anti-gun people will concentrate their efforts on getting people to do as I do, refrain from imbibing alcohol, making it easier to use my weapon in the event I must use it to defend my property and/or my life.
